Lisa Mc: Mixing two granite colors is a though task. The surefire way would be to do Absolute Black on the island...

Vesna: Depending on the particular batch of NVG, it should work. The more contrast within the slab, the better.

In our new house, our cabinets will be mocha. Our bi-level island, however, is cream. If I used New Venitian gold with the darker cabinets, I would like to find a darker granite to compliment the NVG to go on the island. any ideas?

Kara: If you want to keep it warm, I'd go with NVG. For more contrast go with Tropical Brown. Note that TB has a very slight greenish hue to it.

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-26 12:00:06

Joy: It's a good choice. The darker spots you see are actually cranberry/ruby in color. Should flow nicely into your color scheme.

We are building a new kitchen with dark Nutmeg stain cabinets, stainless steel appliances and red oak floors. Would you recommend the new venetian gold for granite tops? Other suggestions?

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-19 16:45:14

michelle: For maximum contrast I'd go with a dark brown (matching to the glaze). A more subtle approach would be a darker beige with a hint of yellow.

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-19 16:29:06

Lue: Firstly, I would advise the Venetian Gold as it's much warmer than the dark ones. With a slate floor it will brighten the room up. Secondly, the streaking is more of a improper cleaning issue rather than the sealer. The sealer bonds with the stone and solidifies so there is no way for it to streak.

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-19 10:37:39

David: Not a lot of contrast there. If the kitchen doesn't get much light, this would be good. If you have more room and light, I'd suggest a darker color.

Date: 2008-09-19 10:21:47

Lisa: For the floor I would probably go with either maple tile, or if you want ceramic, then a color that's similar to the granite. For walls, use a shade of the cherry.

Selected OVG countertops;desert shade tile backsplash w/Blk Galaxy 4\" insert;Kilim Beige walls ; Maple cabinetry w/saddle stain; SS appliances; and desert shade (creams/gold/beigey) floor tile. Will OVG work or should we go darker for granite choice? I don\'t like dark colors and prefer warm tones.

We have cottage style natural cherry cabinets and are leaning toward Venetian Gold Original Granite, UbaTuba or Black Pearl. Our appliances are stainless and we want a slate floor. I would appreciate help on the decision. Also, I work in many kitchens and notice that dark granites seem to streak,. Is this a sealing issue?

I currently have butterscotch floor (medium color), maple cabinets (light) with black laminate counter tops. A friend of mine just re did his kitchen in NVG. I really like this color. Do you think this would look right with the colors I described? I have found some pictures online similar to this and they look pretty good. Thanks in advance!

We are building a new house. We had settled on dark hard wood floors and creme cabinets with black glaze and a black vent a hood and ubatuba tops. Granite is such a beautiful stone and we are worried that ubatuba will be plain and only have one color, but we also worry that VG or SC will blend in with the cabinets. Any suggestions?

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-06-06 11:59:23

Anne: If your cabinets are significantly darker than this stone, then go for it. Otherwise it all might blend together too much.

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-06-06 11:55:27

Michelle: It does have the "ruby" spots in it. Depending on how light/dark the cabinets are, this could be a nice toned down choice.

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-01-22 09:39:39

Jenni: Yes, it matters a lot. Light cream cabinets won't provide the contrast (or at least not as much) that's needed to make everything look sharp. The ideal combination would be: Dark, reddish cherry cabinets, Black appliances, neutral (travertine) floor.

Marmi di Carrara srl - Moderator

Date: 2008-01-22 09:27:48

Rick: If the cabinets are dark, then you don't have to worry at all. The contrast between the tops and the cabinets will make both shine.

Diane: It depends on the rest of the kitchen, but based on just the cabinets, I think it might be a bit too close.

Kevin: Yes, definitely go darker. NVG and SC will both blend in too much.

Barbara McLouth: Not sure what color exactly your cabinets are, but try the darker golds, like golden beach, golden valley..

Chris: What you're looking at is a good option. Also try Tiger Skin if you're not afraid of patterns ;)

I've got light maple cabnets and gunstock hardwood floors in my kitchen, do you have any suggestions for granite color? I'd like something with black and light colors...but not something that would clash. Thanks
